What I checked
I reconstructed this from Wikipedia’s synopsis and I am labeling the motive talk as interpretation. The PlayStation blurb calls Cesare charming and insecure, someone who wants his uncle’s empire. A widely upvoted player reading says Cesare is the one who still treats the oath as binding after Enzo breaks it. That is a reading, not a quote from Hangar 13.
What happens
Don Torrisi means to execute Enzo and end Isabella’s pregnancy. Etna is erupting. Enzo fights Cesare with knives and spares him, then fatally wounds Torrisi. The don’s last line, in the synopsis, is that Enzo cannot change what he is. Cesare, in tears, stabs Enzo. Isabella kills Tino and escapes toward Empire Bay, where she reads a letter from Enzo.
The series thread: Luca Trapani is Sam Trapani’s father. Leo Galante continues into Mafia II and Mafia III. Isabella’s ship is the door out of Sicily. Enzo does not take it.

| Is the motive confirmed by the studio? | Not in a quote I have. Treat the psychology as a reading. |
