Series timeline
Story order is not release order. The Old Country happens first, in 1904–1907. The original Mafia, released in 2002, is set in the 1930s.

What I checked
The links I will actually defend: Isabella leaves for Empire Bay, the city of Mafia II. Luca Trapani is Sam Trapani’s father, and Sam is in the first game. Leo Galante shows up again in Mafia II and Mafia III. Vito Scaletta is not born yet. Game8 notes his birth year as 1925. Ennio Salieri, in the Man of Honor DLC, is the Salieri of the first game, met here in 1905.
Story years
Release years are in the right column so the prequel does not look like it came out in 1904.

FAQ
Does Vito appear?
No. He is born later.
Is Salieri the same man?
The DLC presents Ennio Salieri in 1905. He is the figure from the first game, at a younger point.
